How to install Windows 11 trial – Insider Preview Build

Microsoft officially trial Windows 11, Microsoft allows adventurous users (like you) to download and install Windows 11 for free.

As you may already know, Windows 11 is slated to launch in the fall or early next year, with official trailers and product listings suggesting an October 2021 release date. Before the wide rollout More widely, Microsoft has now released a beta build of Windows 11 that is expected to be buggy and possibly crash prone.

The first Insider Preview version of Windows 11 has Build number 22000.51 quite similar to the leaked version a few days ago. However, according to Engadget, some new points include File Explorer showing a neater command bar, Microsoft Store application updated with a new interface. The on-screen virtual keyboard is also deeply customizable instead of the default on Windows 10.

To install Windows 11 preview, the user’s computer also needs to meet the same Microsoft requirements as the official version. To check, the computer needs the latest PC Health Check App software. After installation, it is necessary to sign in with a Microsoft account to check the compatibility of the computer.

Some common reasons for unsupported computers include less than 64 GB of free memory, unsupported processor, no Secure Boot or TPM 2.0.

Minimum configuration to install Windows 11 :

  • 64-bit supported processor clocked at 1 GHz or more, with a minimum of two cores.
  • Only certain processor lines are supported.
  • Minimum 4 GB RAM.
  • Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0.
  • DirectX 12 or later compatible graphics chip with WDDM 2.0 driver.

Microsoft also said that Windows S Mode will have to switch the mode out of S Mode before upgrading. In addition, S Mode is only available on Windows 11 Home Edition.

Install Windows 11 preview on your PC

Step 1:

Sign up for the Windows Insider program from the company’s website or Windows Settings. You need to agree to special terms and conditions, which alert you to potential problems in the beta testing program.

Step 2:

Open Settings  >  Updates & Security  >  Windows Insider program and click Get started

Step 3:

Agree to terms & conditions when and if required.

Step 4:

Sign in to your Microsoft account when asked. Make sure you select the account registered in the Insider program.

Step 5:

Select Dev channel (allows access to Windows 11 builds), Beta and Release Preview Rounds currently limited to Windows 10 version 21H2).

Step 6:

Restart when asked.

Step 7:

After the system reboots, go to Settings  >  Update & security  >  Windows Insider Program , check your configuration again. It should be Dev channel .

Step 8:

Press the back button or click the Windows Update tab.

Step 9:

Click Check for updates to start the download.

Preview Build 22000.51, which is the first Dev channel build, will begin downloading to your device.

Currently, Windows is only available in the Dev channel. If you’re not ready, you can switch to the Beta channel and start receiving preview builds when the OS is a bit more stable. According to Microsoft, Beta channel quality is better than Dev channel. If you want to do a fresh install of Windows on a virtual machine, first download and install Windows 10, then sign up for the Windows Insider program.
